

Welcome to SBC's Big Summer Community Week!
Big Summer Community Week 2026 has finished, but we’re keeping this page available so you can see what took place throughout the week. It’s a snapshot of the activities, sessions, and celebrations we hosted. This will also help anyone interested in future events get a sense of what the week is all about.
THE EXCITEMENT IS BUILDING!
EVERY DAY THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES WILL BE AVAILABLE:
Community café
from 10:00am - 12:00pm & 2:00pm - 3:30pm
A relaxed and welcoming environment for everyone where you pay a donation for drinks, cake and snacks.
Kids groups for school years 1-6: from Tuesday to Friday
from 10:00am - 12:30pm [FULLY BOOKED - NO MORE SPACES]

Space for young people (years 7 and up)
Space to hang out, do arts and crafts and play organised games. Every morning from 10:00am - 12:00pm.
Prayer space
Available for anyone who wants prayer for any issues, from 11:30am - 12:30pm
The Big Table Lunch
A big community lunch for anyone on a ‘pay what you can’ basis from 12:45pm
Afternoon football and games on Streatham Common
from 2:00pm - 3:30pm
Afternoon all-age indoor games
from 2:00pm - 3:30pm
A chill-space for families with young children to hang out and relax
from 2:00pm - 3:30pm
The Bible Read Aloud
A contemplative space to listen to scripture read aloud, from 2:00pm - 3:00pm

THE FOLLOWING WORKSHOPS WILL HAPPEN ON SPECIFIC DAYS:
Please note, the number of places in some workshops is limited. These will be allocated on a ‘First come’ basis and sign up sheets for each workshop will be available each morning from 10am in the atrium cafe area​

Monday:
Gardening skills
Learn how to make cuttings, germinate seeds and grow plants at home. For all ages - take home your own starter kit! Workshop with Karen from 2:00pm - 3:00pm

Guided Walk Around Historic Streatham
Led by Chris from 10:30am - 12:00pm
Chair-Massage Taster
Led by Mehret from 10:30am - 12:00pm
Pilates and Praise
(all ages, no mat needed) Led by Mehret 2:30pm - 3:30pm
How to (actually) Help Others
How do we combine kindness and honesty and avoid getting burnt out? Led by Jon from 10:30am - 11:30am
Record your own song!
Music workshop led by Ethan. Bring an idea for a song or your lyrics and turn it into a recording! from 1:00pm - 4:00pm

Wednesday:
Make the Most of Your Money
A fun workshop to learn some tips and strategies to make your money go further run by volunteers from the CAP Lifeskills course from 10:30am - 11:30am
How to (actually) Help Others
How do we combine kindness and honesty and avoid getting burnt out? Led by Jon from 10:30am - 11:30am
Record your own song!
Music workshop led by Ethan. Bring an idea for a song or your lyrics and turn it into a recording! from 1:00pm - 4:00pm
Cup-Cake Making Bake-Off
Test your muffin-making skills at the SBC bake off! Work in intergenerational teams, add your own decorations to impress the judges! Led by Annie & Rebecca from 2:00pm - 3:30pm
Poetry & Creative Writing Workshop

Sort Your Life Out
How to create a capsule wardrobe and a healthier and freer relationship with your clothes, led by Zodie from 10:30am - 11:30am
What is Christianity All About?
Atheists, agnostics and waverers welcome! Led by Bruce from 10:30am - 11:30am
Pop-up Choir (session 1)
Sing your heart out with Pam and Yvonne from 1:30pm - 3:00pm
How to create your own Fondant Flowers
Join baker Ashlee to craft your own decorative edible flowers! Led by Ashlee from 2:00pm - 3:30pm
Biscuit Making
Be a mini-baker in this fun-filled session to make yummy butter biscuits, delicious chocolate chip cookies, or decorate your very own biscuit creations! Led by Sophia & Susannah from 2:00pm - 3:30pm

How to eat healthily
A fun and informative workshop with dietitian and nutritionist Nina from 10:30am - 11:30am
Making healthy food
A practical workshop creating healthy food with nutritionist Karen from 2.00pm to 3.30pm
